The Woopie Balancing Chairs game is a gripping family game: build the tallest tower you can from 18 colourful chairs. Whoever makes the tower fall loses.

This chair stacking game is a fun alternative to pick-up sticks or a house of cards, and it teaches cunning, reflexes and patience. The chairs come in different shapes, so building a stable structure is not easy at all – it takes focus and precision. The set has 18 chairs in four colours: blue, orange, green and red. Each chair is about 2.8 × 2.8 × 5 cm. The game is designed for children from 3 years, girls and boys alike, and can be played alone, in pairs or in a larger group. The compact box is handy for travelling.

What your child develops

• Fine motor skills. Adding a chair without toppling the tower takes precise movements.
• Concentration. The higher the tower, the more carefully you have to move.
• Logical thinking. Players work out how to place chairs of different shapes so they stay put.
• Hand-eye coordination. Each chair has to go exactly where it will hold.
• Teamwork and talking. Playing together teaches waiting for your turn and sharing.

How to play

Players take turns adding one chair to the tower. When it falls, the round ends, and the player who caused it loses. With younger children, skip the competition at first and simply try to build a tower from all 18 chairs together.

You can invent your own rules too: everyone plays with their own colour, or you draw a chair from a bag and must place that one. The small box is easy to take on trips or visits.
