With this Woopie craft kit, your child casts dinosaur figurines from plaster and then paints them. Moulds, plaster, paints and everything else needed for the job are in the box.

This plaster casting and painting kit combines two activities: casting and painting. The moulds include a stegosaurus, triceratops, tyrannosaurus, brontosaurus, parasaurolophus and a dinosaur egg. Your child paints the finished figures in their own colours and can use them to decorate their room or as gifts for loved ones. The manufacturer recommends the kit for children aged 6 and up, girls and boys alike. The instructions are simple and illustrated.

What your child develops

• Creativity and imagination. Your child picks the colours and patterns for every dinosaur.
• Manual dexterity. Mixing plaster, pouring it into moulds and painting small details train the hands.
• A sense of colour. Six paints can be mixed and combined into new shades.
• Patience. The plaster has to set before painting can begin.
• Pride in their work. The finished figures are your child's own creation to show off and give away.

How to play

Cover the table with newspaper or a wipe-clean cloth. Mix the plaster together in the bowl following the instructions, pour it into the moulds and smooth it with the spatula. Once the plaster has set, pop out the figures and let your child paint them. You can split the project over two days: cast on one, paint on the next.

The kit is great for a rainy weekend, a craft session with friends or a birthday party. The painted dinosaurs can then star in games and stories about the prehistoric world.
