Woopie Amaze Ball is a three-dimensional maze inside a transparent sphere: rotate it to guide a small metal ball through the corridors all the way to the centre.

This 3D maze ball is a real test of patience. The maze is a spatial structure, so the sphere has to be turned in every direction to pass each stage. At 10 cm across it fits nicely in a child's hands and is easy to take on trips. The maze is sealed inside a tight, transparent case of quality plastic, so the metal ball cannot fall out. Neon green colouring makes it easier to follow the ball's route. The manufacturer recommends it for children aged 3 and up, girls and boys alike.

What your child develops

• Coordination. The sphere has to be turned slowly and precisely so the ball does not drop.
• Spatial imagination. Your child works out where each corridor leads in three dimensions.
• Observation. Spotting the next passage takes a keen eye.
• Logical thinking. Children plan the route and learn from mistakes.

How to play

Start by aiming for the next stage only, rather than the centre. With time, your child will remember the route and get faster.

Older children can race the clock or count how often the ball drops. It is great for travel – in the car, train or plane – because there are no small parts to lose.

A great gift

Amaze Ball is a small gift for children who love a challenge – something to bring when visiting, a party prize or a Christmas stocking filler.
